• Assisted with architecting a fully redundant JMS infrastructure based on IBM MQseries and Veritas Cluster Services. This system was responsible for delivering direct lead information for the sales team to generate revenue.
• Lead transition team from WebLogic to JBoss Java application environment. The project required a six month project plan that entailed coordinating with developers, system administrators, and executives to ensure delivery with zero impact on lead flow and revenue.
• Developed custom tool for compiling, packaging, deploying, and managing developer code to application servers. This tool was able to control code on over twelve servers from one host and reduced code deployment from eight hours down to one hour.
• Assisted full company relocation of 150 servers and 200 employees with workstations to a new facility. The projected goal for this relocation was five days yet was accomplished in a forty-eight hour period.
- Systems Architect, Hosting and Networking Development
Cable & Wireless (Previously Digital Island, Previously Softaware)
(Public Company; CW.L; Telecommunications industry)

• Developed a custom Linux distribution based on Red Hat Linux. Installation via network allowed remote deployment of a brand new server in less than twenty minutes.
• Engineered a large-scale automatic update system for Linux server clusters written in bash, perl and tcl. This web-based interface provided an easy way for clients to manage larger server farms without concern for causing interruptions to service and procedures.
• Designed several staging and production environments to deliver load-balanced content without time delays caused by synchronization using a custom bash script utilizing rsync and RSA encryption.
• Multiple Linux kernel modifications for increased performance including: buffer i/o, TCP timeouts and file systems support
• Restructured enterprise backup offerings by developing customized version of Veritas NetBackup DataCenter to support seven locations worldwide. Also included Oracle and Sybase hot-backup procedures.

August 1999 — May 2000 (10 months) - Developed an open source application in bash to monitor all network servers and applications and page appropriate parties upon failures. A web based interface provided real-time statistics on server performance.
- Migrated 250 workstations and servers from a public IP class to a private IP class without interrupting services. This project required coordinating with several divisions to insure proper configuration of network switches, server configuration, and desktop computer configuration.
- Successfully ported a Linux mail server to a FreeBSD based platform without any interruption to over 150 users. This transition required a successful extraction of the master password file from the original Linux server to convert it to a BSD-compatible format. After user authentication was accepted, a virus scanner was integrated into sendmail for scanning incoming emails before being delivered to their recipients.
- Integrated a Cisco Local Director to achieve full load balancing of a live, dynamic server environment.
- Completely redesigned DNS servers and database tables to streamline delivery time from Master to Slave systems. This required an entire rewrite of the old DNS tables as they contained many legacy entries and bad file structure.
- Senior Systems Engineer

August 1997 — August 1999 (2 years 1 month) - Installed, configured, and maintained Unix-based web, mail, and authentication servers. The platforms varied from FreeBSD, UnixWare, and WindowsNT.
- Designed and implemented mail services for 700 clients. A task that required extraction of user names and passwords from an Access database to be ported to FreeBSD server. A bash script was written to process the database to an Excel spreadsheet containing the extracted information to add users and their passwords to the server for proper authentication.
- Configured Primary and Secondary DNS Servers for 800 domains.
- Wrote full system managements scripts in bash, PERL, and TCL for easy systems administration. These scripts assisted in addition/removal of users, DNS entries, web server configuration, as well as minor billing integration into a Microsoft Access database.
- Moved all company services to a new backbone provider without service interruption to clients. The project planning took three months, and required proper DNS configuration so all domains and servers would function in either class for a period of six weeks while DNS propagation took place.
