Gmail goes IMAP

Gmail finally opened IMAP support. As an iPhone user, this is huge to me. It’s been frustrating reading something on my computer only to have to change it’s status again on my iPhone to keep the new message badge update-to-date.

Change is in the wind

I’ve been quietly working on a new blog design behind the scenes. Integrating some newer things I’ve seen on other sites like Now Playing, Now Reading type stuff. Also working on gallery/Flickr integration. (Photos I take with my iPhone can go immediately up to Flickr which means automagical real-time photo updates!) There will finally be a blogroll as well so you may see where it is I’m actually pulling a lot of my news from.

I’ve also started using the latest beta of ecto which has some nice new tools to help me get stories up faster. It actually requires that I try and write the story first, so speed increases may vary based on my own schedule. ;)

I’ve already made a post via my iPhone, but that was done via Safari. I recently read about being able to run OS X widgets on my iPhone. I’ll be trying to get the Wordpress widget running so I can post even easier from the road without a laptop.

Lastly, I talked about changing the name of this spot as far back as 2006. Well, it’s finally gonna happen. But I’ll let the name wait until the unveiling of the new design.

All this is likely to occur in the next couple of weeks depending on what work/personal schedules allow. There’s so much to write about but I’ve been putting it off in lieu of getting the new design completed to help accommodate some of the things I want to write about. Burning Man, moving to a new house, new bands, new books, building a clean looking blog, migrating a data center on a budget, and adventures in middle management. All that and more in the coming weeks.

Ms. Cleo

Yup, this pretty much sums up my day:

You can be quite the skilled diplomat today, for you clearly see both sides of an issue. Additionally, you have the analytical tools at your disposal to take what you know and turn it into a convincing argument. Don’t fall into the trap of taking sides. Instead, help all those involved reach common ground.

Bush to soldiers…

I could swear I just heard the caveman say: “The success of the soldiers on the ground on the ground will determine the success of them coming home.”

I’m hunting for a transcript to make sure I heard it right. If I did… WTF?!?! Caveman fucks it up and they gotta clean the mess? Fix it, or don’t come home.

What a gas

So the nervous cat came back from the vet feeling pretty good. I’ve got no major swelling or soreness to speak of. I’m keeping my face iced and staying on top of the vicodin and that’s working just great.

That nervousness I walked in with was enough for the nurse to hook me up with some nos and get my heart beat down to normal. (It took all of 30 seconds for the audible heart monitor in the room to go to a regular pace once the tank kicked on.)

They didn’t bother with the whole counting backwards bit either. Strangely, that was the part I was nervous about. Being told, “Okay, now you’re going to sleep. Start counting.” Instead they did it brilliantly; they nos’d me up, got me chatting with them, slipped the IV while I was distracted, kept talking to me, and woke me when it was all completed.

I’ll be resting it up in front of the TV for a couple days. Good thing I loaded up the HTPC before hand.

All about the Benjamins

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Former U.S. football star O.J. Simpson said on Tuesday his hypothetical account of killing his ex-wife in his aborted memoir “If I Did It” was crafted by a ghost writer and was full of errors.

Cause really… once you’ve lost the chance at reaping monetary compensation from something, you have to refute it’s validity. It was perfectly fine with O.J.that this book (which he had issues with) was going to be published (despite his lack of confidence in it’s truthiness!) until… well… he wasn’t really gonna make any money off of it. Now suddenly it’s a problem.

But I still see another problem with this…

Goldman’s father, who originally opposed the book, now says he wants it published as he now views it as “an indictment of a wife-beater, of a murderer, written in his own words.”

Sorry man. I’ve been extremely sympathetic towards your aim at discrediting this photogenic jack-hole for the murdering sack-of-crap he is for years but this is a bit on the WTF?! side. You objected to the publication from the start and after winning legal rights to the profits now you want it published? I understand your reasoning may have been an attempt to prevent profits from going into Simpson’s pocket but you don’t deserve the cash either. If you really stand behind your street cred you’ll either release it freely on the Internet or you’ll print a free copy for anyone who asks.

Money for murder and profit, either from the murderer or the family, is really fucked.

I see that now…

My mistake was never knowing
By mistake I keep on going
Love was in the room and I didn’t know it
Love was in the sails and I kept rowing
Love is on the rails but I’m still rolling
Love is on the lawn but I keep mowing
Sad, sad movie
I see that now.

The White House must hate meta data

Pakistan tells the U.S. to go fuck itself when it comes to hunting down bin Laden…
U.S. claps.

I wonder if the government has classified meta terrorism yet.

Laughing at tragedy

A Fark headline reads:

Chinese club explosion kills 25. If only there were some sort of fire drill in place.

Wait for it… sink in yet? :)
